1890 Gold Benson Chronometer

An immaculate and rare solid 14k gold filled high-grade 19 jewelled keyless pocket watch chronometer, fully serviced, overhauled and keeping good time and guaranteed. The watch is fully signed and made by James Wilson Benson of London. The pocket watch with a high-grade Swiss Pivot Detent Chronometer Escapement, 19 jewels and with a blued steel helical hairspring. The watch has been fully serviced by my watch-maker, overhauled and is guaranteed and is of course an excellent time-keeper as one might expect from such a high-calibre chronometer pocket watch. This is a beautifully made keyless-wound man's chronometer pocket watch, dating from ca. 1890, from the Victorian period.



THE DIAL: 100% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and subsidary seconds in bright condition with no chips or hairlines. Dial with very fine blue steel hands. Diameter is 46 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition. The dial signed J. W. Benson.



THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with gilded 3/4 plate and finely gilded balance cock. A large ruby endstone setting to balance cock and blue steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance with very substantial gold timing screws and with blued steel helical hairspring and jewelled to the balance staff and wiyth a pivot detent chronometer escapement in very good condition. The movement with 19 jewels, with screwed in jewelling set into chatons. The watch ticking away very strongly and just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker. The watch with hand-set via a transitional push-piece at 11.00.




THE CASE: 100% mint, the 14K solid gold filled case measures 55 mm outside diameter. The front cover and rear cover both closing tightly to the case. The top and bottom covers are heavily engraved with crisp and fresh engraving, likewise also the case band in superb order with a odd tiny wear mark. The watch with Swiss marks, and 14K gold filled marks. This is a high quality watch, with deep and rich engraving to the case back and all over the case band, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality.
