A near mint condition solid 18k gold mens, 1940's Swiss 21 jewelled mens chronograph wrist watch, fully serviced and overhauled and keeping excellent time by my watch-maker. The watch with its original silver dial, with two subsidary registers and centre seconds hand, all in perfect working order. This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss men's chronograph wrist watch, in excellent condition and comes with a new blue leatherette presentation box as shown. This is a beautifully made Swiss solid gold chronograph wrist watch, dating from the mid-20th century. The watch is clearly marked 18k gold and in its original period case.
THE DIAL: 97% mint, the satin silver dial with gold markers and Arabic numerals, signed Chrongraphe, Suisse, 17 rubis, to centre and in bright condition, most unusual to see with no visible fading or toning. The dial with unusual gold baton markers at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 and Arabics to other places. A most unusual set up, all numerals are fresh and crisp, as are both sub-dials. The tachometer scale to outside edge of dial is clean and just lightly faded at edge but overall still crisp. The dial with the odd light marks as expected on a 60 year old watch, when watch makers have serviced the watch. Dial with blue steel hands and centre seconds. Diameter is 32 mm. The new crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with polished nickel steel plates and finely engraved balance cock. A shiny blued steel Bosely regulator, and ruby endstone setting, blue steel screws. With a cut two arm bimetallic balance, with overcoiled hairspring. The movement fully with 20 jewels and two adjustments and is a Landeron L58 movement. The gold crown in fine condition. The watch is a classic example of high grade swiss engineering.
THE CHRONOGRAPH: 100% mint, and in full working order. Pushing the top button starts the centre seconds hand and the minute register on the right hand side. By depressing the lower button, the centre seconds hand is stopped. Pushing the lower button a 2nd time, returns the seconds hand and subsidary minute hand to the 12.00 clock (zero) positions.
THE CASE: 98% mint, the solid 18k gold three piece case measures an impressive 36 mm x 45 mm. The front cover is excellent and snaps on very tightly. The case with Swiss marks, and a case number of 2648. The case stamped with 18k gold, 0.750 and Swiss hall marks to rear cover and also to the case band, cleary shown in the pictures. The watch weighs complete a massive ca. 51 grams, with a very substantial and heavy solid 18k gold fully marked case. The rear cover with 1950 dated dedication and minor fine scratches.
