A mint condition solid 18k gold ladies Tiffany & Co. 15 jewelled dress broach watch, with a case of blond tortoiseshell, 18k gold and four substantial sapphires. This is guaranteed to be a genuine and authentic Tiffany & Co. ladies brooch wrist watch from the Art Deco period, the 1930's, and comes with a presentation box as shown. See the classic book on watches by Shugart et. al. for a picture of a very similar gold and sapphire brooch watch by Tiffany.
The DIAL: 100% mint, the original satin silver dial with black Arabic numerals and signed "Tiffany & Co.", and in bright condition, with light wear to edges where it shows gentle aging as expected, but not seen when contained inside the case. Dial with fancy blue steel hands. Diameter is 16 x 12 mm. The original crystal is also in excellent condition.
The MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with silvered plates and finely engraved balance cock. A shiny blued steel Bosely regulator, and ruby endstone setting, blue steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with overcoiled hairspring. The movement working very well indeed and with 15 jewels. The watch with gold winding crown. Tiffany like many of the finer names in Horlogy, had movements supplied to them by a number of companies, and they are characterised by superb attention to finish, as this example clearly demonstrates, and made by the well known "European Watch Company". I have not accessed the movement in the case ,since cleaned by my watch-maker for a photograph, if required this can be obtained and will take back to him to disassemble the case.
The CASE: 100% mint, the solid 18k gold centre part of the broach case measures 14 x 26 mm outside dimensions. The front cover is excellent and the 18k gold rear cover closing very tightly. The watch marked for 18k gold and Swiss hallmarks. The case with number 26008 to reverse. The rear of the central gold case with flip out section with two small pins allowing fixing onto a piece of clothing. The outer part of the case in blond tortoiseshell of curved form in excellent condition. The front of the case inset with four large blue sapphires of good clarity and color. This is a high quality 1920's solid gold and tortoiseshell Tiffany broach watch, in crisp condition and of fabulous quality. This watch has clearly had a sheltered life and was most likely kept just for "Sunday Best", hence its near mint condition.
