A mint condition solid 14k gold Swiss mens Tiffany & Co. wrist watch in very good original condition dating to 1944 in an unusual scroll lugged case with satin silver and gold dial. This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Tiffany men's wrist watch, and the watch is fully marked on the case as such and in excellent condition.
THE DIAL: 100% mint, the satin silver criss-cross dial with gold dagger markers and signed "Tiffany & Co." in bright condition. Diameter is 27 mm. The new crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with highly polished nickel steel plates. The watch with an unusual compensated regulator and two arm bimetallic balance, with an overcoiled hairspring. The movement with 15 ruby jewels all of which are of a good size, much larger than normal, a sign of very good quality and early shock proofing to the balance staff. The watch with a fine domed gilt winding button. The movement is very clean and has been well looked after and just recently overhauled and oiled by my watch-maker. The watch is in very good working order for its age, winding smoothly and running strongly. Tiffany like many of the finer names in Horlogy, had movements supplied to them by a number of companies, in this case Wittnauer Longines, and they are characterised by superb attention to finish, as this example clearly demonstrates.
THE CASE: 100%,the solid 14k gold scroll-work case measures 31 mm outside diameter, and 38 mm to ends of lugs. The front cover is excellent and the rear cover closing tightly and all hinges in perfect order. The case stamped, 14k gold stamps, Wittnauer, New York, Geneve, Montreal, and the case number of 240,xxx. Please note that we do not re-polish cases to give a new look, as this often results in surfaces and edges being abraded as is so often happens. The watch comes with a new leather watch band and a leatherette presentation box to store the watch when not in use.
