A mint condition solid 9k gold Swiss mens Hermes wrist watch in very good original condition dating to 1949, with a high grade 15 jewelled movement. This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Hermes men's wrist watch, and the watch is fully marked on the case as such and in excellent condition.
THE DIAL: 100% mint, the satin silver concave dial with delicate gold Arabic numerals and signed "Hermes" in bright condition, with light wear to edges where case clips down, unseen when the movement is in the case. Dial with original finely shaped gold dauphine hands in fine order. Diameter is 24 mm. The new crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with highly polished nickel steel plates. The watch with an unusual compensated regulator and two arm bimetallic balance, with an overcoiled hairspring. The movement with 17 ruby jewels all of which are in high quality recessed gold jewel settings, a sign of very good quality and early shock proofing to the balance staff. The watch with a fine domed gilt winding button. The movement is very clean and has been well looked after and just recently overhauled and oiled by my watch-maker. The watch is in very good working order for its age, winding smoothly and running strongly. Hermes like many of the finer names in Horlogy, had movements supplied to them by a number of companies, and they are characterised by superb attention to finish, as this example clearly demonstrates.
THE CASE: 100% mint, solid 9k gold case measures 67 mm outside diameter, and 32 mm to ends of lugs. The front cover is excellent and the rear cover closing tightly and all hinges in perfect order. The case stamped, 9k gold, and 0.375 karat stamps, Edinburgh hall-marks for 1949. Please note that we do not re-polish cases to give a new look, as this often results in surfaces and edges being abraded as is so often happens. The watch comes with a new leather watch band and a leatherette presentation box to store the watch when not in use.
