1953 9K Dunhill Watch

A mint condition solid 9k gold, Swiss mans classic Art Deco period Dunhill wrist watch in unusual tonneau shaped case. The watch has just been fully serviced and overhauled by my watch-maker, and is keeping excellent time and all functions are in full working order. This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Dunhill solid 9k gold mans wrist watch, in excellent condition and comes with a new leather watch band and leather presentation box as shown. This is a beautifully made mens solid gold Dunhill dress wrist watch, dating from 1953. The watch is clearly marked Dunhill and in its original gold case.

THE DIAL: 100% mint, the satin silver domed dial with gold Arabic numerals and signed "Dunhill" in bright condition, with light wear to the edges, unseen when the movement is in the case. Dial with original gold dauphine hands in fine order. Diameter is 24 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition.

THE MOVEMENT:  100% mint, with highly polished nickel steel plates. The watch with an unusual compensated regulator and two arm bimetallic balance, with an overcoiled hairspring. The movement with 15ruby jewels all of which are in high quality recessed settings, a sign of very good quality and early shock proofing to the balance staff. The watch with a fine domed gilt winding button. The movement is very clean and has been well looked after and just recently overhauled and oiled by my watch-maker. The watch is in very good working order for its age, winding smoothly and running strongly. Dunhill like many of the finer names in Horlogy, had movements supplied to them by a number of companies, and they are characterised by superb attention to finish, as this example clearly demonstrates.

THE CASE: 100%, the unusual solid 9k gold square case measures 26 mm outside diameter, and 35 mm to ends of lugs. The front cover is excellent and the solid 9k gold rear cover closing tightly and all hinges in perfect order. The case stamped, 9k gold, and 0.375 karat stamps, Birmingham hall-marks for 1953, and the case number of 565509. Please note that we do not re-polish cases to give a new look, as this often results in surfaces and edges being abraded as is so often happens. The watch comes with a new brown crocodile finish leather watch band and a blue leatherette covered presentation box as shown. This will keep the watch in good order and protect it when not in use.
