A A mint and rare condition solid 18k gold mens Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer wrist watch with solid 18k gold bracelet, fully serviced, overhauled and keeping excellent time and guaranteed to be an authentic Rolex wrist watch. The watch comes with its original Rolex presentation box, guarantee booklet and a pile of Rolex cleaning/overhaul invoices from 1978-1987. The watch has just been fully overhauled and cleaned by my watch-maker on 24/05/2007 and is keeping excellent time.This watch is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss solid 18k gold Rolex Oyster Perptual men's wrist watch, in excellent condition and is signed to the dial, movement and the case. The dating of the watch from the excellent book by Hess and Dowling on their history of Rolex. In 1926, Rolex introduced the first Oyster watch and the first self-winding automatic, known as the "perpertual" in 1931. This Rolex OysterDate is in very fine and superb condition and a fabulous and highly practical watch for every-day use.
THE DIAL: 100% mint, the satin silver dial with silver baton markers, signed "Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer" to the centre. Dial with very fine and original gold dauphine hands with centre seconds. Diameter is 26 mm. The original Rolex crystal is also in excellent condition. The dial looks a tiny bit hazy due to reflections from the crystal but is in fact perfect.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with polished and highly reflective steel plates and finely engraved balance cock in stunning condition. A shiny blued steel Bosely regulator, and ruby endstone setting, blue steel screws. With Rolex balance, with overcoiled hairspring and with 26 jewels and with five adjustments and 1180 calibre. The plates in very fine condition, with the rhodium plating in excellent order and auto rotor to centre. The Rolex Oyster stamped winding crown in fine condition. The solid gold winding button screws down tightly onto the case post and the threads are in perfect condition. This movement is a very fine and original example of Rolex classic engineering at its very best.
THE CASE: 100% mint, , the 18k gold case measures an impressive 30 mm x 35 mm. The front of watch with nicely finished front bezel, typical of early 1950's Rolex watches. The front cover is excellent and the watch with a screw on solid 18k gold rear cover. The case with screw in bubble back cover and serrated edge which screws in tightly with a new rubber sealing washer. The serrated edge to rear cover in fine order. The case number of 65xx and dated to 1952 and movement number of 816,xxx will be given to the buyer, to stop fraud. The case with clearly marked Rolex Stamp, 18k and 0.750 marks and Swiss and London import hall marks. The screw in original Rolex Oyster crown fully marked and working perfectly.
THE BRACELET: 100% mint, the watch comes with a substantial solid 18k gold bracelet in excellent condition. The bracelet fully marked, 18k and 0.750 karat gold and the links are all in good order with no bending or any nicks or loss. Total length is ca. 20cm which can easily be lengthened if required by altering one clasp.
THE PAPERS AND BOX: 100% mint, the watch in its original Rolex presentation box. The watch comes with its original Rolex guarantee booklet from 1952, details of several Rolex services and six invoices from Rolex, England from the period 1978-87.
