A mint condition solid 18k gold & enamel, Swiss classic Art Deco period Cartier pocket watch. This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Cartier hunter cased pocket watch and has come from a small collection of Cartier watches and has been well treasured, hence its excellent condition. The enamel work to the watch case is in original and unrestored condition.
THE DIAL: 100%, the original satin silver dial with black Arabic numerals markers and signed "Cartier" in bright condition. Dial with original blue steel Breguet moon hands in fine order. Diameter is 37 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, The watch with a compensated regulator and two arm bimetallic balance with a Breguet overcoiled hairspring. The movement with 15 ruby jewels, set into recesssed gold jewel setting and several wheels also gold plated. The watch with a fine domed winding button. The watch is in very working order for its age, winding smoothly and running strongly. The watch movement with European Watch Company stamp, one of the few pre-war companies who supplied movements to Cartier.
THE CASE: 100%, the solid 18k gold case measures 44 mm outside diameter. The front cover is excellent and the rear cover closing tightly and all hinges in perfect order. The case stamped, 18k gold, and 0.750 karat stamps, Swiss hall-marks, and the case number of 7161. The case with several features setting it apart from the norm: firstly the stylised Art Deco solid 18k gold bow; secondly the very fine and delicate work to the case band; and finally at the 3.00 position where the front and rear covers close next to the pendant, there are tiny arched cut-outs to allow a tight and snug fit. The finely detailed aquamarine colored enamel and gold work in crisp and perfect condition, clearly echoing the age of elegance in the Art Deco period. The top cover with a blue enamel worked square superimposed on top of a white and gold square.
