A mint and substantial solid 18k gold and pearl set chain driven fusee verge pocket watch made in Switzerland in the late 18th century. The watch is ticking away strongly and comes with a winding key and keeping good verge time, recently cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker. The watch in a very high quality fully engraved solid 18k gold case inset with small natural pearls, so clearly made for someone with a deep pocket when new, 200 years ago. The watch best described as a time-capsule from the late 18th century in stunning condition and comes with an early 19th century watch key.
UNUSUAL FEATURES: The watch watch comes from a private collection where it has clearly been looked after. Watches from this period with the fire-gilding to the watch movement and the case in such bright condition are very uncommon. The movement with round ballustar pillars and with finely made and decorated hands, and a fabulous pearl inlaid case. The watch has been cleary well looked after, and the watch is very handsome piece indeed. The watch is in full working order and comes complete with a key for winding and presentation box.

THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid 18K gold case measures an impressive 37 mm outside diameter and the complete watch weighs a substantial 30 grams. The hinges are excellent with the covers all closing tightly, and the bow is original and tight to the case. The watch has been tested as being 18K gold and guaranteed as such.
