A very fine condition solid 9k gold hi-grade 17-jewelled pocket watch by the famous Swiss Watch Company, vertex. The watch recently serviced and overhauled by my watch-maker and keeping very good time indeed. The watch movement of very high grade, being nicely finished, of 15 jewels, with a gilded centre wheel. This is a beautifully made keyless-wound man's pocket watch, dating from the early 20th century. The watch is clearly marked 9k gold. The watch is in full working order and comes complete with a presentation box.
THE DIAL: 100% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no chips or hairlines. The dial with blue steel hands and subsidary seconds hand. Diameter is 44 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with with well finished rhodium plated plates and a steel regulator, and steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with hairspring and club tooth lever escapement. The movement of good quality and with 15 jewels, signed "Vertex" and number of 31, with a gilded centre wheel. The watch ticking away on my desk as I type this, and keeping excellent time and just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker. The watch movement is a very fine and clean example of a Vertex calibre and further marked "Swiss Made".
THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid 9k gold case measures 49 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both are hinged and close nice and tightly. The inner solid 9k gold dust cuvette in excellent condition. The case with 9k gold hall marks, Birmingham hall-marks and "ALD" for the Aaron Lufkin Dennison Watch Case Company. The top bezel and rear cover in very fine and crisp order. The inside dust cuvette with case number of 705052. This is a high quality solid 9k gold watch, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality. This watch has clearly had a sheltered life and was most likely kept just for "Sunday Best", hence its mint and immaculate condition.
