A very fine condition solid 14k gold hi-grade 17-jewelled hunter cased pocket watch by the famous American Watch Company, Walham. The watch recently serviced and overhauled by my watch-maker, and keeping very good time indeed. This is a beautifully made keyless-wound man's pocket watch, dating from the early 20th century. The watch is clearly marked 14k/0.585 karat solid gold. The watch is in full working order and comes complete with a presentation box.
THE DIAL: 100% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no chips and a tiny hairline. The dial with blue steel hands. Diameter is 42 mm and signed Waltham. The inner crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with finely nickel damaskeened plates and a micrometer adjustment star-cam regulator, and steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with hairspring and club tooth lever escapement. The movement of good quality and with 17 jewels. Many of the jewels are set into chatons held in place by screws, a very good sign of quality. The watch ticking away on my desk as I type this, and keeping excellent time and just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker. on 18/04/2007. The watch signed, "A.W.W.Co" for American Waltham Watch Company and number 18,xxx,xxx, dating to 1912.
THE CASE: 97% mint,the solid 14k gold hunter case measures 50 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both are hinged and close nice and tightly. The case with top cover which pops open when the pendant button is depressed. The inner solid 14k gold dust cuvette in excellent condition. The top cover with some fine bruises, all can be easily removed. The case with 14k gold and 0.585 karat hall marks from the USA and tested as such as well. The case maker mark for "Roy".
The top and rear covers with very fine rose engine turned engraving. The rear cover with small circular cartouche to centre and the top cover with fancy shield. The edges of the covers with fine engraving and plain case band. This is a high quality solid gold watch, with deep and rich engraving to the case, a work of art, in crisp condition and of jewel like quality.The watch comes with a wooden presentation box to store the watch when not in use.
