A mint condition solid 18k gold hi-grade 30-jewelled minute repeater cased pocket watch by the famous watch-makers, Patek Phillipe of Switzerland and retailed by Tiffany. This is a beautifully made keyless-wound solid 18k gold pocket watch, made by Patek Phillipe, dating from 1901.
The watch comes with a certificate from Beyer of Zurich in Switzerland, who re-sold this watch on 10th July 1986. The minute repeating pocket watch on two fine steel gongs with movement number, 112056/384, with patented Patek separate winding for the going train and the minute repeater. The movement supplied by Patek without a case to Tiffany & Co. in New York.
The watch and repeater have just been fully overhauled and a report prepared by my watch-maker which will be supplied with the watch, he was very impressed with the condition and build quality for a 100 year old watch. The watch with the very rare feature of push-button repetition for the minute repeater. In the period 1900-1914, out of 250 minute repeaters, only three were made with button activated repeating. The majority were supplied with a slide operated in the case at the 6 o'clock position, which was also cheaper to manufacture.
THE DIAL: 10% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no chips and two light hairlines. The dial with fine blue steel hands. Diameter is 42 mm and signed Tiffany. The crystal is also in excellent condition and retained securely.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with finely finished nickel plates and a satin steel Bosley regulator, and shiny steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with hairspring and club tooth lever escapement, with characterstic handlebar-moustache lever. The movement of good quality and with 30 jewels, held in position in chatons. The movement is very fully signed and of very superior quality; "Tiffany & Co., 112056, Made in Switzerland.
THE REPEATER: 100% mint, with finely finished nickel plates and fully jewelled through the repeater trains. The repetition is activated by the crown push-button, and winding is achieved through backwards and forwards turning of the crown. At 12.59, the hour hammer, chimes 12 times on a single gong; this is followed by three ting-tangs on both gongs with the two hammers; finally, there are 14 individual strikes on a single gong. The repeater train has been fully overhauled and works throughout the day in perfect synchronisation with the watch hands.
THE CASE: 100% mint, the substantial solid 18k gold case measures 50 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both with invisible hinges and these close nice and tightly. The case with 18k and 0.750 gold marks, Swiss hall-marks and Tiffany case sponsor maker mark. The inner dust cuvette made of solid 18k gold and fully marked, and this closes nice and snugly. The back cover with very fine monogram inset to the centre.The watch comes with a new wooden presentation box to store the watch when not in use.
