This is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Cartier solid platinium pocket watch, in excellent condition and comes with a new presentation box as shown. This watch has come from a small private collection of Cartier and other high quality watches and has been treasured and well looked after, hence it excellent condition. The watch is remarkable for the super-thin European Watch Company calibre movement, a work of art and technically outstanding. This is a beautifully made Art Deco period Cartier solid platinium watch, dating from ca. 1910.
THE DIAL: 99% mint, the the original satin silver engine turned dial with black Arabic numerals markers and signed "Cartier" in bright condition, with a few minor marks. Dial with original blue steel Breguet moon hands in fine order. Diameter is 37 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition.
THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with nickel steel plates. The watch with a compensated regulator and two arm bimetallic balance, with overcoiled hairspring. The movement with 17 ruby jewels and with recessed gold jewel settings and the wheels also gold plated. The watch with a fine domed blue stone carbouchon set winding button. THE CASE: 100% mint, the the solid platinium case measures 44 mm outside diameter. The front cover is excellent and the rear cover closing tightly and all hinges in perfect order. The case stamped platinium and with a case number of 7161. There are also Swiss hall marks. Please note that we do not re-polish cases to give a new look, as this often results in surfaces and edges being abraded as is so often the case. The case rear cover with Art Deco stylised monogram.
The case with several elegant features setting it apart from the norm: firstly the stylised Art Deco solid platinium bow; secondly the attention on the delicate snap on case covers, still as tight and crisp as when first made; the very fine and delicate work to the case rear cover monogram; and finally showing the attention of a master case-maker, at the 12.00 position where the front and rear covers close next to the pendant, there are tiny arched cut-outs to allow a tight and snug fit. However best of all is the case thickness, 3.8 mm, a super-narrow high grade watch.
